Today I discovered Knoppix. It is awesome. You can boot from the CD into a fully functional Linux environment (including KDE), without having to install anything. We used Knoppix to repair a computer with a corrupted kernel. You can also use it to fix broken windows partitions, and even edit the Windows registry!

If you are using Windows 2000, I discovered that there is little-known about firewall built into the OS which seems to work really well.
